Sentiment Analysis
BilibiliWorld 2026 (“BW2026”), the comprehensive ACGN event organized by Bilibili, concluded on July 12. With the same footprint as last year's event, it occupied 240,000 square meters across eight halls of the Shanghai National Exhibition and Convention Center (“NECC (Shanghai)”), making it the largest ACGN event in Asia to date. According to data provided by Bilibili, the event attracted 400,000 visitors from over 30 countries and regions during the three days, a wider geographic reach than in 2025. This year, 170 exhibitors from around the world participated, nearly a thousand anime-themed itasha vehicles were on display, and over 60,000 cosplayers animated the halls. For the first time in 2026, BilibiliWorld offered ticket sales outside of mainland China, with fans traveling from all over the world. The impact of BW extends beyond the ACGN community, generating significant spillover effects for participating brands and Shanghai's local economy. Every year in July, this convention boosts the city's tourism, hospitality, and catering sectors. Data from a travel platform indicates that during the event, international travelers' flight bookings to Shanghai increased by 35% compared to the same period last year, hotel bookings across the city rose by 126% month-on-month, and hotel bookings within a 5-kilometer radius of NECC (Shanghai) surged by 600%. Since its launch in 2017, BW has evolved from a simple gathering of like-minded enthusiasts into a globally recognized ACGN event.
