Gunnison Copper Corp (TSX:GCU, OTCQB:GCUMF, FRA:3XS0) earlier this week outlined progress across its Johnson Camp Mine and flagship Gunnison Copper Project, including $8 million of non-dilutive funding, a key permitting submission and the potential acceleration of its feasibility programme. CEO Craig Hallworth told Proactive that approximately 3 million tons of mineralised material would be added to the Johnson Camp mine plan under the company's agreement with Nuton. Hallworth said the additional material would be mined and processed using Nuton's sulphide leaching technology within the existing Stage 2 period, which runs to mid-2030, rather than extending the stage. In exchange, Gunnison Copper would receive an $8 million payment. Hallworth described it as “a great non-dilutive source of funding”, adding that the money would be put to work on the flagship Gunnison Copper Project. The funding therefore represents one potential catalyst as the company advances the larger project, alongside progress on permitting. Hallworth said Gunnison Copper had submitted its mined land reclamation plan amendment to the Arizona State Mine Inspector. The amendment reflects the company's planned shift from the predecessor company's in-situ leaching approach to an open-pit operation incorporating heap leaching and an SXEW plant. Hallworth said the company remained “right on track” and expected the amendment to be approved by the end of the calendar year.
