
Six Flags Lets Guests Use BNPL to Buy Season Passes

Amusement resort operator Six Flags is pushing into the buy now, pay later space, according to a Monday (Sept. 7) press release. The company teamed with FinTech Upgrade to introduce Flex Pay, which lets guests buy season passes and pay over time in fixed monthly installments, the release said. Flex Pay is available on eligible online purchases of $49 or more, allowing guests use season passes to Six Flags parks immediately while paying for their purchases over time, according to the release. “Six Flags has long been committed to providing families with one of the best entertainment values available,” Six Flags Chief Marketing Officer Amy Ziegenfuss said in the release. “Flex Pay gives guests another way to maximize that value by locking in current pricing, breaking payments into manageable installments and enjoying a season of world-class rides, seasonal events and experiences from day one.” In other buy now, pay later (BNPL) news, the PYMNTS Intelligence report “Beyond Pay in 4: Many BNPL Buyers Would Pay for More Time” found in August that consumers who spread purchases across several pay-later providers are the ones most prepared to pay interest, a distinction that could “impact how far the product can move beyond Pay in 4.” Among consumers who use at least four pay-later providers, 82% said they would pay interest to gain access to a longer repayment cycle. For consumers who use just one provider, the share dropped to 46%. In the middle were users of two or three providers at 70%. “The gap suggests that BNPL’s most active customers could provide a natural market for longer-duration credit,” PYMNTS reported Aug. 20. “They already use multiple providers, and their willingness to accept interest indicates that at least some are looking for how long they have to repay.”
