Sentiment Analysis
Micron Technology remains a compelling long-term investment, with fundamentals strengthening despite recent sector-driven stock volatility. MU benefits from surging AI memory demand, multi-year customer agreements, and sold-out HBM4 capacity through 2026, supporting robust pricing power. My updated DCF model yields a fair value of $1,574 per share, above both current levels and the street’s $1,513 target, driven by higher revenue assumptions. Risks include potential supply normalization from competitors and sentiment-driven volatility, but I view the latest dip as a buying opportunity ahead of Q4 results.
Micron Technology's (MU) stock has appreciated by over 5% since the middle of July, when I called the post-earnings pullback a golden opportunity. That call has aged well so far, but the ride hasn’t been smooth. The company's fundamentals are strengthening, and I believe the stock is poised for further appreciation, especially as we approach the fourth quarter.
The primary driver for Micron's bullish outlook is the insatiable demand for AI memory. The company is a key player in the High Bandwidth Memory (HBM) market, which is crucial for AI accelerators like those from NVIDIA. Micron has secured multi-year customer agreements and has already sold out its HBM4 capacity through 2026. This strong demand translates into significant pricing power, allowing Micron to command higher prices for its products.
My updated Discounted Cash Flow (DCF) model reflects these positive fundamentals. I've incorporated higher revenue assumptions based on the robust AI memory demand and strong customer commitments. This leads to a fair value estimate of $1,574 per share, which is above both the current stock price and the consensus street target of $1,513.
While I acknowledge potential risks, such as the possibility of supply normalization from competitors and the inherent sentiment-driven volatility in the semiconductor sector, I believe these are outweighed by the company's strong positioning. The recent dip in Micron's stock price presents a buying opportunity for investors looking to capitalize on the company's growth trajectory ahead of its Q4 results.
