Nasdaq (NDAQ) plans to introduce a 23-hour trading session starting December 2026, pending regulatory approval, expanding access to extended-hours trading. (1:49) The following is an abridged transcript: The U.S. 30-year Treasury yield ( US30Y ) ( TBT ) ( TLT ) continues its ascent this morning after spiking Monday. The Long Bond yield is up to 5.33%, its highest level since 2007. Strategist Ed Yardeni says bond vigilantes are becoming more concerned about rising government debt, hyperscalers' borrowings and inflation risks. "In recent months, they seem to be stirring around the world , suggesting that they are worrying about the government debt problem not only in the U.S.," he said. "Furthermore, while the latest inflation numbers in the U.S. have moderated, the bond vigilantes are worried that the Fed may not be vigilant enough on this front, especially if oil prices move higher again." Yardeni said they "aren't pushing the panic button" just yet, but are "closely monitoring whether the bond vigilantes might do so." Seeking Alpha analyst APAC Research said investors "need to consider all of the moving parts carefully. Are 30-year bonds really so safe that 5.2% interest is enough? For me, no." Nasdaq ( NDAQ ) expects to launch 23-hour trading on Dec. 6, 2026 , a date that will almost live in infamy for market journalists. The exchange expects to launch a 9 p.m. to 4 a.m. ET trading session, subject to SEC approval, Securities Information Processor readiness and applicable SEC rule changes. The new session will be part of a 23-hour trading day, with trading running from 9 p.m. Sunday through 8 p.m. Friday and a one-hour industrywide pause from 8 p.m. to 9 p.m. each day for processing and transition to the next trade date. Currently, the Nasdaq stock market operates from 4 a.m. to 8 p.m. ET, but access to extended-hours trading has been limited. And Alphabet's ( GOOG ) ( GOOGL ) AI model Gemini is going to experience what it's like to fly budget. Google is acquiring internal business data from bankrupt Spirit Airlines for $10M , saying it plans to use the data for product development and AI training. The data "can be helpful in improving our products and AI model," Google told Business Insider. "We are buying the company's internal data and custom software, but we are not buying their customer or credit card information." The deal includes employee emails, Microsoft Teams messages, spreadsheets, calendars and other marketing, productivity and operations data. The data will be de-identified before the sale is completed and will not contain personally identifiable information. AI data company Mercor also bid for the assets, offering $7.5M, but Google ultimately, and unsurprisingly, won the auction. Spirit ceased operations earlier this year after failing to emerge from its second Chapter 11.
