Sentiment Analysis
The week ended August 13 saw nearly $50 billion in net inflows to the ETF space. Equity ETFs received the lion’s share of the new dollars, pulling in nearly $31 billion, with $23 billion of that going into domestically focused funds. Currency and leveraged ETFs were the only asset classes to see outflows.
The State Street SPDR S&P 500 ETF (SPY) saw the most inflows of any U.S.-listed ETF, adding $6.4 billion. Two other funds that also track the S&P 500 also landed in the top 10. The Vanguard S&P 500 ETF (VOO) claimed the No. 4 spot with inflows of $3.8 billion, while the State Street SPDR Portfolio S&P 500 ETF (SPYM) was right behind VOO in fifth place, adding $2 billion. The funds’ underlying index blew past a new record level of 7,800 for the first time on Thursday.
The Invesco QQQ Trust (QQQ) saw the second-highest inflows during the week, adding $6.2 billion, and its sister fund, the Invesco Nasdaq 100 ETF (QQQM), took the No. 7 spot with inflows of $1.4 billion.
The iShares 20+ Year Treasury Bond ETF (TLT) rounded out the top three with the addition of $5 billion in new money. It was one of two fixed income ETFs in the top 10. The other was the iShares 0-3 month Treasury Bond ETF (SGOV), at the opposite end of the duration spectrum from TLT, with $1.7 billion added. SGOV fell into the No. 6 spot in the rankings.
The SPDR Gold Shares (GLD) pulled in the seventh-highest flows for the week, with the fund seeing mainly positive flows during the first half of August. However, year-to-date, the fund has seen net outflows of $6.7 billion, despite the yellow metal having a spectacular year in 2025.
The iShares MSCI EAFE Value ETF (EFV) was the only international ETF to be included in the top 10, falling into the No. 8 spot. The fund has seen steady inflows since the end of June, with $1.1 billion added in the last week.
Finally, the iShares U.S. Equity Factor Rotation Active ETF (DYNF) wraps up the list, with a gain of $979.2 million. The $41 billion fund is the only actively managed ETF among the top funds for inflows for the last week. Its strategy invests in stocks based on exposure to value, quality, momentum, size, growth and minimum volatility factors. It has seen fairly steady inflows over the last 12 months, pulling in $12.5 billion.
