As a British luxury all-terrain intelligent all-round SUV brand, FREELANDER continues to accelerate its global expansion following the start of mass production and its preparations for the launch of its Middle East business. Maintaining long-term competitiveness depends not only on product innovation but also on manufacturing excellence. The FREELANDER 8 is backed by the Chery Jaguar Land Rover Changshu Manufacturing Base, a facility supported by a total investment of over US$3.1 billion, including an additional investment of US$440 million dedicated to upgrading the intelligent manufacturing capabilities of new energy vehicles (NEVs). As the first integrated vehicle manufacturing plant of Jaguar Land Rover outside the UK, this plant combines the luxury manufacturing heritage of Jaguar Land Rover with Chery's advanced NEV technologies, providing the production capacity, quality assurance, and flexibility needed to support global markets. By integrating luxury manufacturing standards with intelligent production capabilities, this facility is designed to deliver consistent quality across different markets that meets customer expectations. This upgraded manufacturing site, officially known as the FREELANDER Super Factory, houses over 1,100 intelligent robots, with 1,054 units distributed in the welding workshop, providing 100% automation. Accordingly, the body assembly process is carried out within a strict tolerance margin of no more than 0.1 millimeters. These advanced manufacturing technologies provide an exceptional level of production consistency, along with flexible manufacturing capability to produce multiple vehicle models. Integrated digital systems—SAP, MES, and Andon, along with the company’s proprietary digital production platform—enable full quality traceability across all production stages, allowing each production phase to be fully monitored, recorded, and verified. In the final assembly workshop, the intelligent equipment penetration rate reaches 91.5%, further enhancing manufacturing quality consistency and strict quality control standards. Quality assurance is not limited to the production line. Before each FREELANDER 8 vehicle leaves the factory, it undergoes comprehensive verification procedures, including high-voltage battery air leak tests, ADAS system calibration, electronic system verification, and dynamic rain tests that simulate rainfall intensity approximately four times that of natural storms (continuous spraying of the entire vehicle at a rate of 22–25 cubic meters/hour for 5 minutes). These tests verify the vehicle's sealing, electrical system reliability, and system performance under challenging operating conditions before delivery, ensuring its readiness for various driving environments worldwide. Sustainability is another cornerstone of our manufacturing ecosystem. This plant integrates intelligent energy management systems, water recycling systems, low-carbon production technologies, and environmentally friendly manufacturing processes. Through these targeted measures, the plant achieves an air recycling rate of 95%, volatile organic compound (VOC) emissions not exceeding 5 mg/m³, and carbon emissions per vehicle of 0.35 tons. These achievements underscore FREELANDER's ongoing commitment to sustainable and responsible manufacturing. To celebrate this significant production milestone, a number of prominent journalists from major Middle Eastern media outlets toured the factory and participated in dedicated field driving experiences ahead of the FREELANDER's upcoming launch in Abu Dhabi. This visit provided a firsthand look at the manufacturing capabilities supporting FREELANDER's global expansion. Concurrently, FREELANDER 8 test vehicles have begun road testing across the Middle East.
