Sentiment Analysis
The SPDR S&P Oil & Gas Equipment & Services ETF (XES) is a modified-equal-weight basket of approximately 35 oilfield-services and equipment companies, tracking the S&P Oil & Gas Equipment & Services Select Industry Index. Current oil prices ($55–65 WTI) and declining upstream capex limit upside, while efficiency gains structurally mute drilling activity that XES’s land-heavy book depends on. I prefer direct exposure to Solaris, Kodiak, or offshore names, or a cap-weighted ETF like OIH, as XES becomes compelling only on a pullback or oil breakout.
