HunterLab announced Vista® L2 – the next generation of its spectrophotometer for measuring transmission color and haze in transparent and translucent liquids and solids. Vista L2 extends the spectral range to 710 nm, includes Essentials L2 – the industry's most advanced color analysis software – and offers more computing power and storage. The result is enhanced capabilities for quality control teams in beverages, edible oils, liquid chemicals, pharmaceuticals, translucent plastic preforms, and environmental testing. The extended range sharpens the distinction between actual color, measured as extinction, and haze, measured as light scattering. This clarity helps manufacturers detect instabilities in liquid products early and assess color stability with greater confidence. The measurement range up to 710 nm also enables chlorophyll measurements at 630, 670, and 710 nm per AOCS Cc 13d-55 – a method for monitoring oxidation and ensuring the shelf life of edible oils. "Quality teams are being asked to perform more measurements in less time, without additional equipment or personnel," said Bob Weaver, President of HunterLab. "The Vista L2 was designed precisely for these needs. It extends the measurement range of a single instrument while using the same methods and accessories our customers already employ, so the upgrade provides additional functionality without disrupting workflows." The Vista L2 builds on the proven Vista platform, retaining its transmission geometry, full-spectrum LED illumination, and touchscreen interface. New and improved features include 32 GB of internal storage – enough for millions of measurements –, an HDMI output for displaying results on external screens, and a built-in wavelength check standard for consistent performance. Essentials L2 is updated via USB stick or direct internet connection. Vista L2 is the only transmission instrument that applies the Beer-Lambert Law with the precision required to determine absolute color using standard cuvettes and vials. It automatically determines the color of edible oils at path lengths of 5.25 inches or 1 inch and measures APHA color in smaller cuvettes than required by competitive systems, reducing reliance on costly specialty cuvettes. Interchangeable holders and base plates – in "Multifunctional," "Precision," and "Self-Centering" versions – position liquids, vials, cuvettes, translucent plastic preforms, films, and flow-through samples using magnetic fixtures and positioning pins for repeatable results. Vista L2 is available immediately. For more information and demonstration requests, visit https://www.hunterlab.com/en/contact/.
