EDM Resources Inc ( TSX-V:EDM OTC:SWNLF ) View Price & Profile EDM Resources gets amended approval for Nova Scotia zinc mine restart Published: 08:49 20 Jul 2026 EDT EDM Resources Inc (TSX-V:EDM, OTC:SWNLF) said on Monday it has received an amended Industrial Approval from Nova Scotia's Department of Environment and Climate Change for its Scotia Mine, clearing the way for the company's updated mine plan and processing facility ahead of a planned restart. The approval covers the redesigned development of the Halifax County project, including changes to the mine layout, processing facilities, and waste rock and tailings management infrastructure, along with associated environmental protection measures. The changes support the company's updated pre-feasibility study and planned mine restart, which remains subject to receipt of the federal Fisheries Act Authorization. Scotia Mine is expected to become Nova Scotia's only primary zinc producer, supporting the province's Critical Minerals Strategy, which identifies zinc as a critical mineral for renewable energy and advanced manufacturing. "Receiving the amended Industrial Approval is one of the most significant regulatory milestones achieved by the Company since acquiring the Scotia Mine," said CEO Mark Haywood. "Combined with the submission of the federal Fisheries Act Authorization application earlier this year and our ongoing pre-feasibility study update, we continue to make strong progress toward restarting one of Atlantic Canada's premier critical minerals projects." EDM said the approval follows an extensive technical review by provincial regulators and reflects engineering, environmental and permitting work carried out over the past two years, supporting a modernized operation with updated processing infrastructure and environmental management systems. The company said it continues to advance several initiatives in parallel, including completion of an updated mineral resource estimate, the updated pre-feasibility study, project financing, discussions with potential concentrate off-take partners, and remaining provincial and federal permitting requirements. Scotia Mine is a past-producing zinc-lead mine located approximately 60 kilometres northeast of Halifax, Nova Scotia. Continue reading
