Damoon Technology (Europe) AG, trading as Paymonade, is now one of only 280 entities licensed under MiCA across the entire EEA as the European Union’s transitional period concludes. VADUZ, Liechtenstein and SINGAPORE , July 19, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- The European crypto sector is undergoing one of the most profound regulatory consolidations the financial sector has seen in recent years. Before the European Union’s Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation (MiCA) fully came into effect, the EU was estimated to have over 3,000 registered crypto firms operating under a patchwork of national regulatory regimes [1] . As of the conclusion of MiCA’s transitional period on July 1, 2026, only 280 entities hold a full EEA-wide license [2] . This means that approximately nine out of ten firms previously active have either not made the transition and exited the European market, restructured, or continued operating without a license, in breach of EU law [2] . One of the firms that has met those requirements is Damoon Technology (Europe) AG, trading as Paymonade, which has been granted a MiCA license by Liechtenstein’s Financial Market Authority (FMA). This license permits Paymonade to offer regulated crypto services in all 30 member states of the European Economic Area (EEA) on the basis of a single, EEA-wide valid license. The bar has proven high even for the largest and best-funded players in the sector. Independent analysis of the public register shows that currently only a small fraction of the world’s top 100 crypto exchanges by trading volume hold a MiCA license [3] . Furthermore, as of the date of this press release, several major international crypto platforms, as well as at least one of the world’s largest stablecoin issuers by market capitalization, are still missing from the register [3] . Paymonade is a regulated fiat-to-crypto and crypto-to-fiat transaction on-ramp and off-ramp infrastructure provider, serving payment service providers, fintechs, and crypto exchanges that require euro and other fiat currency settlement infrastructure. With an annualized transaction volume of $1.8 billion in H1 2026, Paymonade ranks among the larger fiat on-ramp and off-ramp infrastructure providers operating under the new MiCA regime, particularly among those serving institutional clients such as crypto exchanges, banks, and fintechs requiring seamless euro and other fiat currency settlement across the EEA on a single license. Key clients of Paymonade include some of the largest crypto exchanges globally. Paymonade was founded by and is led by Calvin Cheng, a Singaporean citizen, former nominated Member of Parliament of Singapore, and current Honorary Consul of the Republic of Serbia in Singapore. He has a proven track record in the highly regulated fintech sector, including owning a Swiss digital asset firm admitted to the VQF, an SRO recognised by FINMA. He is also one of the original shareholders of Longbridge Securities, one of Asia’s largest online brokerages. Paymonade’s license adds a Singapore-founded and led entity to the MiCA registry, which is still dominated by entities of European and US origin. “The era of lightly regulated crypto is coming to an end,” said Calvin Cheng, Founder and Chairman of Paymonade. “That we have managed to secure this license at a time when the vast majority of firms in un...
