Airtel Africa PLC ( LSE:AAF ) View Price & Profile Airtel Africa moves ahead with London listing of Airtel Money Published: 02:43 23 Sep 2026 EDT Airtel Africa PLC (LSE:AAF) has formally moved ahead with plans to float its mobile money business in London, paving the way for Airtel Money to become an independently listed company. Airtel Mobile Commerce, which operates as Airtel Money, intends to apply for admission to the Main Market of the London Stock Exchange. The proposed initial public offering will consist of a secondary sale of existing Airtel Money shares by current shareholders, meaning the company itself will not raise fresh capital from the transaction. Airtel Africa currently owns 77.85% of Airtel Money and said it expects to remain a long-term strategic shareholder following the flotation, supporting the business through its next phase of development. The move would give investors direct exposure to Airtel Africa’s mobile money operations, which sit alongside the group’s telecoms business across 14 African markets. Airtel Money provides digital financial services across Airtel Africa’s footprint, allowing customers to transfer money, make payments and access other financial services through mobile devices. The proposed London listing also represents another step in Airtel Africa’s efforts to crystallise value from the fintech arm while maintaining a significant strategic interest in the business. Airtel Money’s separate intention-to-float announcement includes further information on its operations, strategy, financial performance, current trading and outlook. No offer size, valuation or timetable for admission was disclosed in Airtel Africa’s announcement. The transaction remains subject to regulatory requirements and market conditions, with the company cautioning that there is no guarantee the IPO will proceed or that admission to the London Stock Exchange will ultimately take place. If completed, the deal would leave Airtel Money operating as a separately listed business while retaining close strategic ties to its majority shareholder, Airtel Africa. Continue reading
