Greggs PLC ( LSE:GRG ) View Price & Profile Greggs shares jump 9% as Panmure Liberum highlights stronger quarterly trading Published: 04:19 30 Sep 2026 EDT Greggs PLC (LSE:GRG) shares jumped as much as 9.1% to an intraday high of 2,046p after stronger third-quarter trading and plans to consolidate manufacturing operations drew a positive response from Panmure Liberum. The broker, which has a 'hold' rating and a 1,560p price target, said company-managed like-for-like sales growth of 3.4% in the 13 weeks to 26 September represented a clear sequential improvement from the first half. Total sales rose 7.7% during the quarter, helped by more settled weather in August and September and continued menu innovation. Panmure said the performance looked ahead of its expectations even after allowing for easier comparative trading conditions during the quarter. Greggs has opened 95 shops and closed 38 so far this year, resulting in 57 net openings, while management continues to expect between 100 and 110 net new shops during 2026. The company also proposed consolidating its manufacturing operations, potentially closing four sites and affecting around 740 jobs. The programme is expected to cost about £60 million, including £40 million of capital expenditure, while generating around £20 million of annual pre-tax cash savings across 2028 and 2029. Management now expects a “modestly improved” 2026 outcome, compared with previous guidance for broadly flat profit before tax. Panmure estimates that 5% growth in full-year profit before tax would produce around £181 million. Continue reading
