HIVE Digital Technologies Ltd ( TSX:HIVE NASDAQ:HIVE BVC:HIVECO ) View Price & Profile HIVE Digital Technologies builds AI revenue engine with new hire – ICYMI Published: 09:34 12 Sep 2026 EDT HIVE Digital Technologies Ltd (TSX:HIVE, NASDAQ:HIVE, FRA:YO0, BVC:HIVECO) earlier this week outlined the expansion of its artificial intelligence infrastructure strategy as Executive Chairman Frank Holmes highlighted a potential GPU cloud pipeline worth more than $1 billion and the appointment of Mark Volk as Senior Vice President of Revenue. Speaking to Proactive, Holmes said Volk had worked with HIVE for nine months before taking the position full time and had already helped build the potential GPU cloud pipeline. Holmes said Volk’s experience would be important as HIVE scales its data centre operations and seeks to turn computing infrastructure into contracted revenue. “We have the infrastructure and Mark’s going to build that revenue engine for us,” Holmes said. The appointment comes as HIVE continues to expand its Tier 1 data centre footprint. Holmes pointed to the company’s activities in Paraguay and its partnership with Bell Canada as examples of that scaling strategy. He also said HIVE had broken the $1 million-a-day barrier and had maintained that level for the past couple of weeks. Holmes positioned artificial intelligence as an increasingly important growth opportunity alongside the company’s established Bitcoin operations. He described Bitcoin as having built HIVE’s “cash engine”, while AI was building its “next growth engine”. A key potential catalyst for HIVE is therefore the company’s ability to convert computing capacity into AI-related revenue contracts, particularly if the potential GPU cloud pipeline progresses. “Every megawatt has a job with us,” Holmes said, adding that HIVE wanted each megawatt deployed where it could create the greatest value. He said the company would move towards AI at locations where AI could earn a better return than Bitcoin. Holmes also highlighted the difference in economics between GPU computing and Bitcoin mining. While GPUs are substantially more expensive than Bitcoin-mining ASICs, he said the revenue generated could be “30, 40 times more per hour per chip”. Further expansion or conversion of HIVE’s data centres towards AI workloads, the development of its Bell Canada partnership and the conversion of the GPU cloud pipeline into contracts could therefore represent areas for investors to monitor as the company scales its AI computing strategy.
