Building a platform to do the job of 1 million analysts for Great Speculations Follow Author Aug 27, 2026, 07:53am EDT Summary Super Micro Computer (SMCI) shares surged 9.4% after Cisco integrated SMCI's liquid-cooled servers into its Secure AI Factory. This endorsement was pivotal, easing corporate governance concerns that a record $60 billion order book had failed to address. Cisco's move signifies trust in SMCI's comprehensive data center solutions, including direct liquid cooling and management software. Despite massive projected FY27 revenues of $65-72 billion, SMCI faces significant cash flow challenges, burning $6.81 billion in free cash flow in FY26 due to inventory build-up for these large orders. Gross margins are also projected to decline. Future stock performance hinges on SMCI delivering on its ambitious revenue guidance, rather than relying on additional endorsements, to regain its previous highs. Super Micro Computer (SMCI) shares climbed 9.4% on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, finishing at $38.46 following a stretch of mostly declining sessions that concluded with a 5.6% drop on August 24. The record order book supporting the bull case had been public for two weeks at that point, yet it had not halted the decline. What shifted on Tuesday was that another vendor attached its name to Super Micro’s hardware. Cisco Added Super Micro Servers To Its Secure AI Factory Cisco incorporated Super Micro’s liquid-cooled servers into its Secure AI Factory product portfolio, and coverage that day attributed the endorsement to easing corporate governance concerns that had reappeared the prior day and have trailed the company for two years. The scale of the arrangement is not what matters; the identity of the party making it does. Super Micro sells the data center rather than merely the box: direct liquid cooling, high-speed switches, and its own management software are combined in a single build, and a vendor only places its own badge on a build that complex when it trusts the supplier behind it. The Order Book Had Been Public For Two Weeks And Peers Trailed Super Micro had preannounced more than $60 billion in new orders, with roughly 70% tied to AI infrastructure, and projected fiscal 2027 revenue in a range of $65 billion to $72 billion versus the $39.1 billion it recorded in fiscal 2026. None of this was new on Tuesday. The hardware group did receive a lift, but nothing comparable to this: the S&P 500 gained 0.3% during the day, while Dell (DELL) advanced 4.2% and Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) 1.9%. Whatever the group received on Tuesday, it was not worth 9.4% to anyone else. Cash Is The More Difficult Half To Fix Non-GAAP gross margin reached 17.6% in fiscal Q4 2026, with roughly three-quarters of the gain resulting from a favorable customer and product mix, and management has already guided it back down to 10.4% to 10.8% for fiscal Q1 2027. Cash is the tougher half. Super Micro generated $2.23 billion in fiscal 2026 while burning $6.81 billion in free cash flow to do so, because orders of that scale must be purchased as inventory well before any are billed – the cash conversion cycle expanded from 106 days in fiscal Q3 2026 to 149 days in fiscal Q4 2026. The Guide Must Support The Stock From Here One strong session does not erase two years of uncertainty, and the shares remain about a third below the $58.68 they hit within the past year, although far above the $20.53 low of the same period. What narrows the remaining gap to that high is fiscal 2027 revenue coming in within the range management has already published, rather than another endorsement.
