Mondi PLC ( LSE:MNDI ) View Price & Profile Mondi quarterly earnings rise 17% as pricing offsets higher input costs Published: 02:54 15 Oct 2026 EDT Mondi PLC (LSE:MNDI) reported third-quarter underlying earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) of €196 million, up 17% from €167 million in the previous quarter as higher selling prices helped offset rising input costs. The packaging and paper group said the second-quarter figure included a €43 million forestry fair value loss, while there was no forestry gain or loss in the latest quarter. Excluding forestry movements, underlying EBITDA fell sequentially as planned maintenance shutdowns weighed on production, while energy and wood costs rose more than expected. Good order books supported higher average selling prices across several businesses, prompting Mondi to announce further price increases for a number of paper grades, with benefits expected towards the end of 2026 and into 2027. Corrugated Packaging benefited from positive containerboard pricing, although higher input costs and delays in passing paper price increases to customers continued to pressure margins in Corrugated Solutions. Flexible Packaging also recorded positive pricing momentum across Kraft Paper and Paper Bags, while Consumer Solutions delivered what the company described as a good performance supported by resilient order books and pricing actions. Uncoated Fine Paper faced seasonally weaker demand alongside higher input costs. Mondi said energy prices remained volatile and, if current levels persist, particularly South African diesel prices, it expects no forestry fair value gain in the fourth quarter. The company is continuing to reduce costs and streamline its manufacturing network, including transferring customer volumes from plants scheduled for closure and selling one solid board converting facility during September, with a second sale agreed. Chief executive Andrew King said higher packaging paper prices should support fourth-quarter performance despite continued pressure from input costs. Continue reading
