Rainbow Rare Earths Ltd ( LSE:RBW OTC:RBWRF ) View Price & Profile Rainbow Rare Earths names Neo Performance Materials as new technology partner Published: 02:40 24 Sep 2026 EDT Rainbow Rare Earths Ltd (LSE:RBW, OTC:RBWRF, FRA:RR1) announced it has secured Neo Performance Materials as technology partner for the final separation stage at its Phalaborwa project in South Africa, alongside offtake rights covering a large portion of planned rare earth production. Under a memorandum of understanding, Neo will provide technical support and design input for the final solvent extraction circuit. In return, it will receive offtake rights for 40% of annual separated NdPr oxide production and 65% of mixed SEG+ heavy rare earth carbonate output, priced on commercial terms against relevant rare earth indices. The circuit is expected to produce NdPr oxide at more than 99% purity and a mixed heavy rare earth product containing dysprosium and terbium. Test work using Rainbow's rare earth solution is already underway at Neo's facilities in Estonia, ahead of a confirmatory pilot-scale plant programme in Johannesburg. The agreement also clears the way for Rainbow to publish a pre-feasibility study in the fourth quarter of 2026, updating Phalaborwa's economics for the first time since its December 2024 interim study. Rainbow said the PFS will allow financing and permitting work to advance, while completion of the definitive feasibility study is now targeted for the first half of 2027. Chief executive George Bennett said selecting the technology partner was “the remaining step required to complete the definition of our process”.
