
Dow Falls Over 100 Points; US Consumer Sentiment Declines In August

U.S. stocks traded lower midway through trading, with the Dow Jones index falling over 100 points on Friday. The Dow traded down 0.26% to 53,701.92 while the NASDAQ fell 0.51% to 26,665.88. The S&P 500 also fell, dropping, 0.24% to 7,780.42.

The University of Michigan’s consumer sentiment index declined to 51 in early August, compared to 55.2 in the previous month and missing market estimates of 54.5.
In commodity news, oil traded up 0.4% to $81.55 while gold traded up 0.7% at $4,450.60. Silver traded up 0.3% to $65.21 on Friday, while copper rose 0.1% to $6.6095.
