Iconic Los Angeles Starbucks closing after 30 years as coffee giant shutters another 250 stores

A beloved Starbucks in Burbank is set to close on after nearly 30 years in business. The location, next to Bob’s Big Boy on Riverside Drive, will serve its final coffee Saturday before closing up shop for good at 9:30 p.m. Locals have long referred to the Riverside Drive location as “Bobbucks,” a nickname inspired by its spot next to the landmark restaurant. Google Street The store’s impending closure has already prompted longtime customers to reflect on what made the location stand out from a typical Starbucks. In a post on X , Marla Seraphine pointed to the store’s freestanding design, large windows and natural light, writing that it felt more integrated into the surrounding neighborhood than many of the chain’s other locations. She contrasted it with what will become the next closest Starbucks after the Riverside Drive store closes. That location, Seraphine wrote, sits inside an office building with an indoor courtyard and less natural light. Despite serving the same products, she argued that the two stores offered very different experiences. The account thanked staff for “decades of good coffee and fun” and said Toluca Lake and Burbank “will miss you.” The Burbank closure comes as Starbucks prepares to shutter another 250 stores across North America later this week. The company has not said whether the Riverside Drive location is part of that round of cuts.
