LETTRE OUVERTE DE ROBERT STRYK AU PRÉSIDENT VLADIMIR POUTINE

Mr. President Putin, My name is Robert Stryk. I am an American, the son of a Ukrainian immigrant, and a pacifist: I am convinced that the slaughter of Russians and Ukrainians must end. I am a libertarian. I believe in the rights of political opposition, religious minorities, and the LGB community. People should be free to express themselves, practice their faith, voice disagreement, and live the lives they choose. A strong nation should not fear the freedom of its own citizens. I also believe that President Donald J. Trump is the only leader capable of ending this war. The United States does not need Russia to renounce its patriotism, culture, or national identity. The Stryk Doctrine is simple: Modernize, don’t Westernize. Russia can embrace prosperity, innovation, and individual opportunity without abandoning what makes Russia Russian. But Ukraine must also have the right to exist as a sovereign nation and determine its own future. Russians, Ukrainians, and Americans have more in common than the differences that divide us: family, faith, courage, national pride, and independence. We should not be killing each other while more serious threats continue to escalate. The Chinese Communist Party aspires to economic and strategic hegemony. Violent, Islamist extremism threatens our people and our way of life. The United States and Russia should confront these dangers, not exhaust themselves fighting each other. Russia should not let trade lead to conflict with the West due to dependence on Beijing. There is another way: peace, trade, private enterprise, property rights, investment, and capitalism. Russia’s human resources could generate far more power through prosperity than through perpetual war. President Trump believes in removing the shackles that prevent people from living freely. He respects strength, sovereignty, and national pride. He is capable of negotiating a peace that does not humiliate Russia, abandon Ukraine, or condemn another generation to death. But he cannot do it alone. President of Russia, Putin, here is President of the United States, Trump. Negotiate seriously. Choose the future of Russia over another year of graves. Strength can start a war. Responsibility ends one. President Trump is ready. The choice is yours.
