Purepoint Uranium Group earlier this week discussed how geological interpretation following drilling plays a critical role in refining exploration targets and guiding future uranium discovery efforts. Speaking with Proactive, CEO Chris Frostad outlined the extensive work that takes place after drill core is recovered, explaining that the process extends well beyond identifying radioactivity. He said geophysical surveys are used to define potential targets by highlighting relative differences in rock properties, but they do not provide a definitive picture of the subsurface.
Welcome back inside our Proactive Newsroom. Joining me now is Chris Frostad, CEO of Purepoint Uranium Group. Today we're discussing what happens after drill core comes out of the ground and what geologists look for in newly completed drill holes.
Purepoint is currently in the middle of a drill program and using a short break to review the information collected so far. Before drilling begins, the company relies heavily on geophysics to identify targets. Geophysical surveys do not reveal exactly what is underground but instead indicate relative differences in rock properties that help define potential targets. Graphitic conductors are particularly important, although their orientation and geometry remain uncertain until drilling confirms them. Once the first drill hole is completed, geologists can identify rock types, faulting, graphite horizons, structural features.
